Channels are made in game, not in a config file. Run /chateditor, press Create Category, type a command such as /announce or /twt, and the channel works for everyone as soon as you save it. No restart.
Each channel has its own rules:
- who can read it and who can write in it: one job, a group of jobs, staff only, or players carrying a certain item
- a price to use it
- a radius in yards, so only people nearby see it
- anonymous sending, with staff still able to see the sender
- RP name or Steam name, its own colours, a Font Awesome icon or an image, and an optional copy of the message above the sender’s head
- a spam limit, for example one /twt every 10 seconds
Players switch channels with TAB while typing and press Alt for emoji. They can pick one of 8 themes, change the font, size and position, and keep the chat always visible, visible only while active, or hidden. You decide whether they’re allowed to change the theme.
For staff
- Player IDs next to messages, and every message regardless of range or job
- Automatic announcements every X seconds, set up from the same panel
- A bad-word filter that turns words into asterisks
- Logs to a JSON file (time, name, Steam, Discord and license IDs) and to Discord
Name perks add effects to a player’s name in chat. How players unlock them is up to you: in-game money, VIP, Discord coins or your own logic. That part is open source (video of the perks).
We built it on top of the default FiveM chat instead of replacing it. ESX, QBCore and Qbox are detected automatically, and it also runs standalone. Settings and install steps are in the documentation.
